Episode 5 “Beloved Beast” synopsis and emotional web preview poster released! “I Want to Eat Me, Monster,” a popular manga serialized in Dengeki Maoh/Kadocomi, whose TV anime adaptation began airing on Thursday, October 2, 2025, is a beautiful yet heartbreaking story about the encounter between a young girl and a monster. The synopsis and web trailer for Episode 5, “Beloved Beast,” have been released. In addition, four “emotional posters” featuring preview cuts have also been released!

These words make Hinako realize that Miku is the one she once made a promise to… In the trailer, countless words rise up one after another from the depths of the ocean, along with the voices of Hinako, Shiori, and Miku, creating a mysterious worldview. Additionally, four posters featuring scene cuts from Episode 4 are each composed of two different cuts, and the accompanying memorable words create an emotional finish that further heightens anticipation for the story. I sang this song while imagining Hinako with a faint smile on her face, so I hope you can feel that gentle atmosphere, along with the transience and complexity it contains. ■Comment from Kitazawa Yuho (Lyrics and Music): I wrote the lyrics and composed the music with the desire to express, and felt that I had to express, the feelings that Hinako is carrying. The energy of Hinako’s wish to “die” wasn’t “big” or “intense,” but rather “depth” and “tranquility.” I hope you can feel that depth through Lily. May the day come when, in the midst of days when all you can do is walk, you will notice the wind rustling the flowers. ■Comment from Atsushi Sato (Arranger): Kitazawa’s melody and lyrics conveyed Hinako’s struggle with life and her kindness toward her past self. Hinako’s life is packed into this song, and I began arranging it with the desire to translate that into music within Watatabe’s worldview. I completely changed the arrangement for the verse, “Since that day it changed,” and I paid particular attention to the warmth of the words and sound. We wanted to fully utilize the fragility of Ueda’s singing voice, so we included a lot of chorus material, resulting in a song that conveys both coldness and warmth. ■Ending theme song for Episode 4: “Taiyou, Natara Agesho Ka? Miku loves fashion, so I tried to express the clothes I would like her to wear, and her love of sweets, with a three-tiered ice cream that is inspired by Miku, Hinako, and Shiori. I would be very happy if this wonderful song and this video, which conveys the creator’s attention to detail and love, will make you fall in love with her even more! ■Comment from Ando Sasa (Lyricist) A solo song by Miho, the local idol (?) who is relied upon and sought after by many! considering that I’d never made a radio wave song before, I thought it would be a very stimulating production, so I went all out. As a result, I feel like I’ve created a really great song. It was a production that evoked the love and passion of everyone involved. Fairouz Ai’s otherworldly expressiveness, combined with the lyrics, makes for a very refreshing song that mysteriously lifts your spirits… I hope you enjoy listening to it.
