To achieve this, the project aims to foster not only visitors’ ability to simply view exhibits, but also their ability to discover, create, and present. We have been considering the project details and potential development sites while formulating the basic concept and basic plan, holding opinion exchange meetings and questionnaire surveys with local residents. Regarding the development site, we investigated the Fukuyama Art Museum parking lot and the former Fukuyama City Gymnasium site as candidates. As the users of the surrounding facilities match the Miraikan user demographic, and parking is easy to secure and the site is highly convenient, we concluded that the former Fukuyama City Gymnasium site was the most desirable development site. Based on the results of this survey and the opinions of a review committee composed of external experts, we have decided to develop the facility on the site of the former Fukuyama City Gymnasium and within Gohonmatsu Park. We are currently working toward opening the facility in fiscal year 2029. ↓Click here for details
