(Organizer: Castle Town Matsumoto Festa Organizing Committee) This event will project dynamic and fantastical projection mapping images onto the keep and stone walls of Matsumoto Castle, one of the five remaining National Treasure castle towers and the oldest of its five-story, six-story towers. These images include nishiki-e (colored woodblock prints) from the Matsumoto City Museum, depicting the commercial capital of Matsumoto, gorgeous folding screen paintings, motifs of Matsumoto’s unique traditional crafts, such as Matsumoto temari (balls) and lanterns, as well as spring cherry blossoms and flowers from the Northern Alps. In addition, you can experience a variety of light art, including interactive content on the garden paths, projection mapping at the castle gate, and illuminations of Matsumoto Castle Park. Admission is free and no prior registration is required. During the event, projection mapping performances with different themes will be available: from Saturday, December 13, 2025 to Wednesday, January 7, 2026; from Thursday, January 8 to Wednesday, January 28, 2026; and from Thursday, January 29 to Sunday, February 15, 2026.
