The second exhibition, titled “It Rotates,” will feature 14 participants from a variety of fields, including engineers, designers, and artists. The word “rotation” has a technical meaning, like the movement of a motor, as well as
non-circular uses, like the rotation of a store. Simply replacing it with “rotate” might allow you to imagine even more diverse scenes. In this exhibition, “It Rotates,” participating artists will freely interpret the concept of “rotation” from their own perspectives and use a variety of techniques. What is rotating, and what isn’t? Enjoy your interpretation and let your imagination run wild.

Tea rooms were once places where people could quiet their minds and sharpen their senses in harmony with nature. Their true essence lies not in their style, but in their role as “spiritual devices” that reexamine time, space, and
relationships. While inheriting that spirit, this work deviates in terms of materials and structure, creating a space that stimulates the senses through its “posture” and “white space.” The non-traditional material LGS is used, and it is redefined not as modernism but as a “position that reflects time,” presenting it as a mirror that reflects the way of life in industrialized society. In addition to the exhibition focusing on new works, Argentine perfumery FUEGUIA 1833, which has close ties with Ambientec, has specially selected five fragrances from its extensive lineup based on the themes of “light,” “water,” and “city,” which resonate with Barcarolle’s worldview. The music selected is by German composer Felix Rosch, who delicately blends classical instruments with elements of contemporary music to paint landscapes in the listener’s mind. VERCE A design unit formed by Toshitaka Ando and Takuya Shiotsuki, spanning the fields of architecture, art, and products. Using modern
technology, they give new form and meaning to overlooked, attractive materials such as discarded pieces of wood, stone offcuts, and plastic. They conduct experiments and practices on a variety of scales, capturing human behavior and the passage of time. About “AXIS,” the Design Hub Opened in September 1981 in Iikura Katamachi, Roppongi, Tokyo, it was Japan’s first privately run design hub and has become affectionately known as the “AXIS Building.” As the base for Axis Co., Ltd., which has launched a variety of activities as a “body proposing design and lifestyles,” including publishing the design magazine “AXIS” and disseminating information through the AXIS Gallery, the building is home to a collection of design-minded stores. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2021, the building continues to question the significance of design to society at large, drawing on the knowledge it has accumulated over the years.
