The long-awaited digitally remastered film “Tokyo Biyori,” previously only available on DVD, will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on December 3rd. A special event has also been announced to celebrate the release.

photographer Nobuyoshi Araki and his wife Yoko. It is a sentimental, pure-love drama about a photographer’s days with his late wife. The film depicts the love between a husband and wife, sometimes tender and sometimes poignant, set against the various landscapes of Tokyo. The screenplay was written by Ryo Iwamatsu. Cinematography was handled by Yasushi Sasakihara of “GONIN.” Director Naoto Takenaka himself plays photographer Mikio Shimazu, while his wife Yoko is played by Miho Nakayama, who passed away last December. This film is one of actress Miho Nakayama’s most notable works. The film is also enhanced by a stellar and diverse cast. The theme song and music direction are by Taeko Onuki. The music, performed with Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the tones that fill the screen, won the Best Original Score Award at the 21st Japan Academy Awards.
