Designart Co., Ltd. Press release: October 28, 2025 To Members of the Press “DESIGNART TOKYO 2025,” one of Japan’s largest design and art festivals, is coming soon! Event Period: Friday, October 31st – Sunday, November 9th 130 exhibitors and 91 venues bring together innovative works from around the world that challenge new approaches. Experience cutting-edge creations as you tour the city this fall. DESIGNART TOKYO, Japan’s largest design and art festival, hosts a diverse range of presentations on design, art, interior design, fashion, and more, set in Tokyo, one of the world’s leading cities of mixed culture. This year’s theme, “Brave: Pursuit of Instinctual Beauty,” brings together works that pursue the “instinctive beauty” sought after at a time of great change. This event, which allows visitors to enjoy a stroll around the city while touring each exhibition, will be held again this year in seven areas of Tokyo as a “gateway to excitement” for many people, including visitors, as it not only allows them to experience the latest creations, but also allows them to encounter and be moved by creators and works, experience the chemical reactions that arise from this, and even have the opportunity to purchase works that they like. Official Exhibition “DESIGNART GALLERY” This large-scale collective exhibition offers a multifaceted experience of the world’s latest creations, featuring over 30 noteworthy interactive exhibits and talk sessions. Located in the heart of Shibuya, a cultural hub that attracts many people from Japan and abroad, MEDIA DEPARTMENT TOKYO commands a strong presence, bringing together innovative creations from around the world, including Japan, France, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

Eighteen works, including this year’s key visual, will be on display and for sale. LIXIL Mottles of Inaction – Reconstructing the Elements of Space – LIXIL develops and provides advanced building materials that solve everyday challenges to realize rich and comfortable homes. The company will be exhibiting “Mottles of Inaction – Reconstructing the Elements of Space -,” an installation that explores new possibilities in important yet unexplored spatial areas such as floors, walls, and ceilings. As housing standards and values rapidly diversify, people are seeking more essential value, rather than a rational extension of the past. This exhibition is a question from LIXIL in this diverse era, and an attempt to show a new direction.

Furthermore, the materials used in this exhibition are environmentally friendly materials actually manufactured by LIXIL. Beyond their function of reducing environmental impact, they also play an important role in creating aesthetic beauty. Experience the new concept woven together by “inaction” and “mottled,” providing a moment of reflection that will challenge your preconceived notions. 2F: From experimental initiatives to promising young talent Participating brands and creators (in no particular order, titles omitted): Original Kolor Design, siwaza, Hononga Collective, Mitsubishi Electric Integrated Design Institute, Tokio., ZKI design Inc., WOHLHUTTE Satoshi Itasaka, 130 OneThirty / Hironao Kato, .Garbon | .Gab, Ujin Lin by CONTRAST, SUPER RAT, Yusuke Watanabe / WD, Asahi-Seiki × M&T, Sarah Tracton, UbyN Architects / Hiwadaya, SHINYA YAMAMOTO, Paper Parade

Beautiful Design Collaboration Cosentino x James Kaoru Bury PIECE OF REST Ceramics and stone have been beloved by people since ancient times, but with the passage of time and advances in technology, they have become even more familiar in our daily lives. Cosentino, a Spanish building materials manufacturer, deals in large-format tiles, quartz stone, and natural stone processed using proprietary
techniques, and is constantly pioneering new technologies. Image

This exhibition, a collaboration between designer James Kaoru Bury and Cosentino, attempts to discover new possibilities for these waste materials. Come see how these lost materials are transformed into different styles through the hands of designers. Address: INOX Aoyama, 6-4-14 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo Dates: Thursday, October 30th – Sunday, November 9th Hours: 10:00-19:00 *Only those invited to the pre-opening event on Thursday, the 30th are allowed.

At first glance, it appears to be just a garden hose, but it has resin poured inside and hardened. The casual curves created by the balance between the hose’s elasticity and gravity are captured as if captured by a camera, capturing a moment in time. Seemingly contradictory concepts such as chance and necessity, ephemerality and eternity, unique and mass-produced, gravity and anti-gravity, function and decoration, creativity and example, everyday life and art, all appear simultaneously. By subtly
incorporating these curves into the space where Niesseng jewelry is exhibited, we hope to provide an opportunity for visitors to take a fresh look at Niesseng designs, which were heavily influenced by Bauhaus ideas, and deepen their understanding. Address: Ginza Koyanagi Building 1F, 1-7-5 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo Hours: 11:00-19:30 Learn the stories behind our craftsmanship Nomura Co., Ltd. “CREDIT – A Fraction of Effort” Have you ever wondered “behind the scenes” of the spaces and products we come into contact with every day? How much time, skill, and effort goes into creating them, and who is making them? Nomura Co., Ltd., engaged in the daily creation of spaces, came up with a hypothesis: “If we could see what goes on behind the scenes in the creation of a space, perhaps we would develop a deeper attachment to the objects and spaces we create.” For example, through “fragments (pieces) born in factories and on-site”—shards of prototypes, failed products, tools that have been used for many years—we can get a sense of the countless trial and error, judgment, and ingenuity that go into the finished product. By learning about the creators and the thoughts that went into an item, our understanding and appreciation for it will grow. This project is not about questioning the value or design of the item itself, but rather about creating an opportunity to bring about a slight change in the “criteria for selection” and “perspective” of the item, and is an experimental initiative towards a sustainable society. The signature design was created by architect Kengo Kuma, and the materials used are “TRANSWOOD(R),” a new material made from a combination of wood-derived resources such as wood flour from thinned wood and biomass resin made from waste cooking oil and other raw materials. With a color tone similar to black lacquer and the unique look of each piece that only wood can provide, the Retois Collection evokes the Japanese aesthetic. As “circulating vessels,” this tableware is perfect for the dining table of the future, as it can be reused in a new form at the next stage. Using Range Rover’s SV Bespoke Service, the collaboration explores artistry, craftsmanship, and individual expression. Under the shared vision of “celebrating individuality and pushing the boundaries of design,” the two companies will create a one-of-a-kind “SV Bespoke Edition” that reflects a dialogue between automotive innovation and architectural creativity. Since 1970, Range Rover has pursued designs that combine sophisticated luxury and high performance, while KDa has earned international acclaim for its bold architectural ideas while valuing human scale and comfort. In this installation, the sensibilities of both companies come together to reinterpret Range Rover’s modernist design from a new perspective, fusing tradition with innovation, craftsmanship with architectural imagination.
