Looking at music hit charts both in Japan and overseas, the top spots are dominated by anime tie-up songs, and many festivals are being held that specialize in anime songs. We are currently in the “golden age of anime songs.” This book explores the origins of this craze and the process that led to it, introducing numerous classic songs. While there are books that specialize in genres such as rock, pop, popular songs, and children’s songs, summarizing their history and evolution, there are very few that focus solely on anime songs. A book that truly “seems like it should exist, but didn’t!” ▼ Here’s the key point! ▼ (1) A comprehensive history of anime songs from the 1960s to the 2020s! …Starting with the 1963 TV anime “Astro Boy,” this book is divided into seven chapters, each separated by a decade. It covers not only “nostalgic anime songs” but also the latest anime songs as of 2025. (2) A comprehensive introduction, from super-famous songs to “lesser-known songs”! …〈Mazinger Z〉〈Fly! We’ll introduce not only classic songs that everyone can sing along to, such as “Gundam,” “Odoru Pompokorin,” “Zankoku na Tenshi no Thesis,” “Sobakare,” and “Gurenge,” but also a lesser-known song that revolutionized the history of anime songs. (3) Singing, Music Production…Pay Attention to the Changes in Creators! …These days, listeners’ criteria for evaluation are shifting from “this person sings” to “this person creates.” Nowhere is this more evident than in the anime song world. We feature artists ranging from legends to the hottest new creators.
