Ren Yoshizawa, inspired by Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Momiji Nishiya, also rose to fame and won the gold medal. Skateboarding has become a specialty of Japan, with Kai Shinna winning a silver medal in the park event, following his victory in Tokyo. The Japan Skateboarding Championships is the highest level of official skateboarding competition in Japan. In addition to top Japanese skaters who have competed at world championships, skaters who represent the next generation of skaters in this sport, which is constantly changing, compete. As in the Olympics, the competition will be divided into two categories: street and park, and will be judged on “expressiveness.” International competitions leading up to the next Los Angeles Olympics have already begun since June this year. Top finishers in these competitions will qualify for future international competitions, so every trick will be a heated, serious battle.
