Back then, 20 to 30 years ago, people were still unfamiliar with AI and robots, so it was particularly groundbreaking for an anime. That’s why this exhibition felt so fresh. contemporary art It’s really refreshing to see GAAAT turn digital content, anime, and manga into physical art. For fans, this is something they usually only get to experience through online content like TV and movies, but when they see it in front of them as physical art, it’s fun to look closely at the details and empathize with it, recognizing “this is that scene.” I’d like to learn more about GAAAT, who creates art in this way, and I’m very curious to see what kind of content they’ll develop in the future. Reviving classic anime as a new form of art made me realize once again how much I love Ghost in the Shell, and seeing it through this new form of expression made me even happier. Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the 26-episode series features a parallel world to Oshii’s Ghost in the Shell, depicting the unit in 2030, a time when Motoko had never merged with the “Puppet Master.” In 2005, a compilation film titled Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex The Laughing Man was produced, condensing all episodes into a roughly 2 hour and 40 minute story, centered around the Laughing Man incident, which is the central theme of the series.
