Kodansha Ltd. will publish the skateboard-themed picture book “Nice Makeup!” (written by Hiroyuki Arai, supervised by Ren Yoshizawa and Yujiro Terai) on October 29, 2025. This is the first introductory picture book on skateboarding published in Japan, and is enjoyable for both children and adults. While enjoying the story, children will naturally learn about skateboard parts, tricks, the fun of practicing with friends, and tips for improving their skills. The story also instills in children the importance of “never giving up” and “perseverance,” which are also relevant to skateboarding. Watching the 2021 Tokyo Olympics sparked a desire to gauge her own level, and she decided to compete in competitions. She placed 5th in the 2021 Japan Skateboarding Championships Women’s Street, and continued to achieve success in major competitions both in Japan and abroad. She competed in the women’s street skateboarding event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning the gold medal. Even after the Paris Olympics, her success showed no signs of slowing down, placing second in “Super Crown 2024,” which determines the annual champion of “Street League,” the world’s top competition.
