“Kumiko x Tablet Jun Showa Jukebox – A Deluxe Evening of Showa-Era Pop and Chanson,” which was held in April this year and concluded with great success, has been scheduled to return in April 2026. Kumiko, a long-time leading chanson singer who won the Tokiko Iwatani Award Special Prize in 2023, and Jun Tablet, whose unique style of mood song stand-up comedy has garnered support across generations. Their first joint performance in 2024 and their second in 2025 were both well-received and captivated audiences. The long-awaited third performance will be held at Yomiuri Hall in Yurakucho, Tokyo on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Each show features a unique selection of “Showa-era classics” and “chanson,” and they also entertain the audience with their witty conversation. These two have always entertained the audience. They are currently preparing a new project to deliver an even more polished performance this time. Special guest appearances are also planned, and additional information will be announced on the Sunrise Promotion official website and elsewhere in the future. The nostalgic yet new world of “Showa Jukebox” returns on a spring night. From this once-a-year special stage, we’ll bring you the charm of timeless classics. [Kumiko comment] I’m going to be performing another concert with Tablet Jun on April 4th, right in between the Girls’ Festival and Boys’ Festival. Singing with this mysterious Tablet, who appears both as a young girl and a young man, makes me feel like I can transcend the gap between time and space and fly into the endless, ultramarine sky of hope. Please come along, everyone. [Tablet Jun Comment] When Kumiko appears on set, I feel a sense of nostalgia, like meeting my sister from the countryside after a long time. Could this be the true nature of Kumiko’s singing voice that moves people’s hearts? It has absorbed many sad seasons and scenery, and perhaps it is the wind that exists within me as well. I hope that this time too we can create a stage where many paper balloons float softly amongst those watercolor paintings painted with a flat brush… Ah, but it seems that at the end I might explode again.
