New book from management consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG) “BCG Pricing Strategy: Evolving Business, Markets, and Society through Price” will be published by Toyo Keizai Inc. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. As cost structures change due to rising raw material, labor, and logistics costs, the success of pricing is having an increasingly significant impact on a company’s competitiveness and growth. However, due to the prolonged deflation, Japanese companies tend to have less robust pricing capabilities (organizational capabilities) than their leading counterparts in other countries. This book is a translation and re-edited version of the original [Note 1] that has attracted the attention of business leaders around the world, with the hope of helping to improve the pricing capabilities of Japanese companies. Using the “Pricing Hexagon” concept, which comprehensively organizes diverse and complex pricing strategic frameworks and methods, this book defines seven pricing games (diagrams) and explains the characteristics and strategies for each. Drawing on BCG’s extensive client support experience and research, this book examines pricing from both theoretical and practical perspectives, incorporating case studies from a wide range of industries, including B2B and B2C. In addition, the book discusses price “fairness” and approaches to using strategic pricing to solve social issues. This book is ideal for business leaders and those involved in pricing strategy and pricing, as well as anyone looking to learn more about pricing in a systematic way.
