“Declaration of Cultural Creation for the 200th Anniversary of the Showa Era: Showa 100th Anniversary Festival,” which began two years ago, This year marks the 100th year of the Showa era, and the Showa 100th Anniversary Festival (hereinafter referred to as the “Showa 100th Anniversary Festival” and registered trademark) will mark the end of its 100th year as an era name and enter its 100th anniversary. The first year of the Showa era began on December 25, 1926. The Showa 100th Anniversary Festival has been positioned as a second Showa Day, and its activity period has been set to end on this day. Therefore, the Showa 100th Anniversary Festival will begin at midnight on December 25th of this year. As declared, “Towards the 200th
anniversary of the Showa era,” we will continue with the “1937 Festival,” “1938 Festival,” and “1939 Festival.” In addition, the “1938 Festival,” marking the 20th anniversary of our activities, will mark 100 years since the end of the war. We will also strongly and cherish the message that this is an era of war that must be passed down. The Showa 100th Anniversary Festival is calling on companies, organizations, stores, and local governments (hereinafter referred to as organizations) to become collaborative partners. If you register, you will be able to use the official logo. As a general rule, royalties do not apply to existing products, services, events, etc. Information about participating organizations will be released on the official website. Please consider starting a collaborative business. We will provide full support. One example of a collaborative project is our item development with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. As this item is a collaboration with the “Showa 100th Anniversary Festival,” sales will end if orders are placed by 23:59 on December 24th, with plans calling for a continuation of the collaboration with a new brand at the “Showa 100th Anniversary Festival.” The item is scheduled to be unveiled and released at the Motorcycle Show, Japan’s largest motorcycle trade fair, which will be held in Osaka, Tokyo and Nagoya from March 2026. Let’s select 100 meaningful songs from the Showa era. Starting today, we are launching “The Best 100 Showa Songs,” a practical project with the slogan “Towards the 200th anniversary of Showa.” Anyone can participate in this general voting format, and you can cast your vote here here.

masterpieces,” “popular songs,” or “mega hits,” but to select songs that “should be preserved for the 200th anniversary of the Showa era.” We hope to unearth famous Showa songs and help generations unfamiliar with the Showa era to feel and understand them, even just a little. Let’s choose 100 songs that capture the emotion, love, culture, and history of the Showa era and pass them on to future generations. Interim results are scheduled for June and September. The application deadline is December 1, 2026, after which the “Showa Era Best 100 Songs” will be selected and announced. The selected 100 songs may be used free of charge in various media outlets, events, etc. (We welcome use of this information on television, radio, video streaming, events, social media projects, etc.) In addition, we are launching a “Supporter Recruitment Campaign” for restaurants nationwide. Registered restaurants will receive a card and flyer with their restaurant name printed on it by mail to use in communicating with customers. Please make use of these. Registered stores will be introduced as participating stores on the official website. You can also participate in and utilize the “Showa 100th Anniversary Festival” brand for events and service development. We also welcome your participation as an individual supporter. We are encouraging individuals to participate as well. We have opened a Facebook group so that the secretariat can easily connect with interested individuals. Anyone can join, but we reserve the right to remove anyone deemed inappropriate by the secretariat. Also, if you’d like to get more involved as an individual and propose plans or ideas for the Showa 100th Anniversary Festival, you can join and register as an active member of the community. As proof of your membership, you will receive a business card (fees apply) and may use it for your own activities. Information you request (such as personal activities and
announcements) will be posted on our official website. We are also planning to open a closed Facebook group and hold in-person events. From the secretariat As we transition to the “Showa 100th Anniversary Festival,” we will be changing the name of our organization from the “Showa 100th Anniversary Festival Executive Committee” to the “Showabito Community Office.” This reflects the fact that our activities will continue leading up to the 200th anniversary of the Showa era. Organizations and individuals wishing to register must understand and agree with the following spirit of the Showa 100th Anniversary Festival. Please note that we may decline your
registration. First, the Showa era was a time of miracles and upheaval, and we aim to pass it on to future generations. First, we must never forget the energy and dreams for tomorrow that overflowed during the Showa era. First, don’t get lost in nostalgia for the Showa era. Learning from the past and applying it to the present is the source of succession. First, respect not only wealth but also poverty as an element of the Showa era. First, let’s pass on the Showa era as a culture, not as an ideology. First, the Showa-era sentiment is the panacea for preventing modern society from plummeting into a divided society. First, the Showa-era sentiment is the energy that strengthens and smooths the bonds between people. We look forward to your participation.
