Meanwhile, the silver economy is expected to expand to a 100 trillion yen market by 2030, and innovation in the nursing care and welfare sectors is attracting attention as a new growth area. The International KAiGO Festival (IKF) was established in response to these societal changes. It is an international event that brings together startups, companies, policymakers, and nursing care professionals to promote the co-creation of next-generation businesses and technologies born from nursing care. The event is scheduled to be held at Tokyo Big Sight in February 2026, and aims to use the opportunity to disseminate various information related to nursing care to reconstruct the future from the intersection of culture, economy, and technology. In addition to the KAiGO DESIGN AWARD ceremony, which recognizes various initiatives in the nursing care and healthcare fields, a variety of programs are planned to be held over the three days, including talk sessions with various industry leaders and the LiNK WALK, a fashion walk by nursing care workers and users produced nationwide by KAiGO PRiDE. And no one will ever be unaffected by caregiving. In today’s super-aging society, where no one can survive without caring for care, I want to make Japan a country that can boast about its caregiving to the world. To that end, I’m teaming up with caregivers across the country to brand Japan’s caregiving industry. And now, as a new challenge, I’ve been able to produce this film. Through this film, I want to convey to everyone involved in caregiving the importance of “that extra step.” And I hope that people will learn, even just a little, about the wonderful caregivers who put it into practice.”
