YouTube’s music program “Atagi Yuyuta’s Next Door Radio” has announced the holding of the “2nd High School Light Music Grand Prix – Spring 2026,” a live broadcast stage where high school bands from all over Japan will compete with each other performing original songs. The “2nd High School Light Music Grand Prix – Spring 2026” is a national high school band competition hosted by “atagi x Yuyuta’s Next Door Radio.” At the finals, to be held at Yokohama Minato Mirai on March 26, 2026, high school bands selected through video judging will perform original songs live on air. Professional musicians will judge the competitions to determine the top high school band. The “1st High School Light Music Grand Prix 2025,” held on August 21, 2025, received a tremendous response, with over 300,000 views and 50,000 comments, and a second event has already been announced. The judges for the finals will be the show’s two hosts, atagi (Awesome City Club) and Yuyuta, as well as UK, Masuda Mizuki (miida/ex. Negoto), and meiyo, for a total of five people. This year too, professional musicians active on the front lines will gather to evaluate the high school bands with a passionate eye. Entries are being accepted on the official website from October 29, 2025 to January 31, 2026. Anyone can apply as long as their band members are high school students and have an original song. Original music will be recorded by professional recording engineers at “prime sound studio form,” a professional recording studio operated by Avex Music Creative Inc. 3. As a valuable stage for aspiring musical high school students, many bands are expected to participate in this tournament.
