Himeji City Press release: October 30, 2025 To Members of the Press We are now accepting submissions for the 79th Himeji City Art Exhibition! We are pleased to announce the 79th Himeji City Art Exhibition and the call for submissions. Overview This exhibition is an “open exhibition” open to anyone aged 15 or older (note), regardless of nationality or place of residence. Since its first exhibition in November 1946, shortly after the end of the war, it has been held every year except for one cancellation in 2020 due to the spread of COVID-19, making it the oldest public exhibition in Hyogo Prefecture. The exhibition has also been held at various venues, including Kameyama Hontoku-ji Temple, Himeji Castle Nishinomaru, Yamatoyashiki Department Store, Himeji City Public Hall, and Himeji City Cultural Center, before becoming an annual event at the Himeji City Museum of Art in 1983. We are accepting submissions in seven categories: Painting (Japanese painting), Painting (oil painting, etc.), Sculpture/3D, Crafts, Photography, and Design. Selected and award-winning works will be exhibited at the exhibition. We look forward to receiving applications from all over the country.
