■ AI footage generated by Veo 3 introduced for the first time in TBS terrestrial broadcasting TBS today announced that it will be participating in the AI Agent Summit ’25, hosted by Google Cloud. Kazutaka Iida, producer of “VIVANT,” a sequel to which is scheduled to air in Fall 2026 in the Sunday Theater slot (every Sunday at 9 p.m.), and Keita Miyazaki from the Marketing & Data Strategy Department took to the stage to announce the use of Veo 3’s generative AI for the main footage of a terrestrial broadcast, a first for a TBS drama. This initiative is part of an AI utilization project launched within TBS, the first company in the broadcasting industry to become a supporting member of the Japan Deep Learning Association (JDLA). It is an example of a use case for Google’s media generation AI, Veo 3. CG and VFX technologies in dramas are not only used to create world-class, high-quality, spectacular scenes, but are also used in a wide variety of scenes within regular dramas. To maximize the limited resources of the drama production team, TBS adopted footage generated by Veo 3 as a way to improve operational efficiency. By streamlining routine tasks and freeing up time for creators to focus on creativity, TBS aims to produce higher-quality programs. “VIVANT” will utilize AI technology to advance production, with a broadcast date of 2026. Please look forward to the sequel to Sunday Theater’s “VIVANT,” which will take on new challenges. An archive of the presentation is available on the following website.
