This work is based on the analog techniques used in the 1970s when this song was created, using liquid light (oil paints, dyes, overhead projectors, etc.), and incorporates ideas from the worldview of the album cover, reconstructing it with modern
high-resolution video. The dreamy and psychedelic texture of the sound is visually immersively portrayed. “The Word II” began as an electronic organ practice piece, but in recent years has been embraced by new listeners both in Japan and overseas through its inclusion by Mac DeMarco and sampling by Travis Scott. This video is the latest in powerful expression of its appeal. OverLightShow ~Obakoya~ Comment from Yuichiro Oba “The origin of the two keywords, Word and Light. While paying homage to the original, we have created a visual that weaves together its universe. We hope this serves as an introductory switch to deeply synchronize with The Word II. Filmed on a genuine ’70s liquid light rig, capturing every last breath in 8K. J-DIGS (J-DIGS) is a music discovery and reissue project led by Nippon Columbia.
