High expectations are placed on this service as it will create a new family reading culture. “MY” is a personalized picture book service for families created by Iizuka Printing Co., Ltd. (Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Representative Director: Iizuka Masaaki). “My Stella” has won the 2025 Good Design Award (sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion). It is extremely rare for a picture book service to receive this award, and the service was highly praised for its “new experiential design that deepens family bonds.”

My Stella picture books, each with a different name and main character appearance What is MY STELLA? “MY STELLA” is a one-of-a-kind original picture book production service based on the concept of “delivering the excitement of being the main character.” Not only can you freely customize your child’s name, birthday, hairstyle, skin color, favorite things, and family composition, but parents, siblings, grandparents, and even pets can appear as characters. The whole family can enjoy the experience of “creating a story.” What’s unique about this product is that it’s not just the finished product; the “creation process itself” becomes a family memory. Grandparents can participate in the creation using gift cards and QR codes, and can add photos and messages, bringing both the giver and the recipient together to create a “family story.” The finished picture book will have a beautiful album-quality finish, including floral fabric, rounded corners, and durable binding. We are taking on the challenge of spreading this “new way of thinking about picture books” from Shizuoka. Its roots lie in its desire to create memorable printing for the next generation. The idea for this project began with a family story. Seeing a family cherishing their children’s drawings and letters, Iizuka recalled the warmth that paper possesses that cannot be captured digitally. By putting this passion into the form of a picture book in which you become the main character, a new “emotional design” was born, combining printing and storytelling. By combining technology and handcrafting, the project was released in spring 2025. Future prospects Going forward, Mystera will collaborate with the education, community, and welfare sectors to expand its efforts to connect people and generations through picture books. We are also working on a “Local Storybook” initiative to pass on local stories and culture to the future. Just as we turn the pages of a family’s life, new stories will gradually spread through society – sowing the seeds of this is Mystera’s future challenge.
