(Headquarters: Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture; President: Shusaku Mita; hereinafter, Kinki Nippon Tourist Okinawa) will begin accepting pre-orders for collaboration products based on the manga “The Girl I Fell in Love with in Okinawa Speaks in Such a Dialect It’s Hard to Understand” (hereinafter, “Okitsura”) from Saturday, November 1, 2025. Kinki Nippon Tourist Okinawa is supporting the 37th All-Island Lion Dance Festival, which will be held at Katsuren Castle Ruins on Sunday, November 23rd, as part of the Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, “FY2025 Katsuren Castle Ruins Attraction Improvement and Visitor Attraction Strengthening Project.” This event commemorates the 25th anniversary of Katsuren Castle Ruins’ registration as a World Heritage Site and the 20th anniversary of Uruma City’s incorporation, and features a collaboration with the manga “Okitsura.” Limited-edition original T-shirts and capsule toy badges will be available for purchase on the event’s special website and at the festival, making your tour of Uruma City even more enjoyable.

The story is set in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, and humorously depicts the characters’ love triangles, friendships, and romances against the backdrop of Okinawa’s unique scenery and culture. ■37th All-Island Lion Dance Festival The 37th Okinawa Island-Wide Lion Dance Festival brings together traditional Okinawan lion dances. Traditional lion dance groups from Uruma City, as well as lion dance groups from our sister city, Utsunomiya, will participate and perform sacred dances. Okinawa lion dances are characterized by their heads made from deigo wood and hairy bodies made from banana or ramie fibers. Usually performed by two people, the lion dance is held as a prayer for bountiful harvests and protection from evil spirits, as the guardian deity of the village. Amidst the mystical atmosphere of the lion dance and Katsuren Castle ruins, you can enjoy the impressive performance of sky lanterns being released into the night sky at the concurrent event, “Katsuren Castle Sky Lantern Night Festival 2025.” Kinki Nippon Tourist Okinawa is supporting the planning and management of this festival as a commissioned project under Uruma City’s “FY2025 Katsuren Castle Ruins Attraction Improvement and Visitor Attraction Intensification Project.” With the aim of rediscovering new charms of the Katsuren Castle Ruins and further promoting their preservation and utilization, Kinki Nippon Tourist Okinawa is supporting the planning and management of this festival as a commissioned project under Uruma City’s “FY2025 Katsuren Castle Ruins Attraction Improvement and Visitor Attraction Intensification Project.” Through this project, we hope to promote Uruma as “the city of lion dance” both domestically and
internationally, shinka*1 (pronounced “shinka”) Uruma City to become a national lion dance center, and continue to contribute to the promotion of culture and tourism in Uruma City. *1 “Shinka” means “friend” in the Okinawan dialect.
