https://www.hmv.co.jp/news/article/251023113/ “HMV&BOOKS SHIBUYA” opened in November 2015 as the first HMV&BOOKS store, aiming to be a “new entertainment information hub.” We carry a wide range of products, not just music and video software, but also books and other entertainment-related merchandise, and have set up a permanent event stage, providing customers with new entertainment encounters, discoveries, and experiences. In 2016, we also opened the “hmv museum,” a permanent space for exhibitions and other shows, within the store, offering even more in-depth experiences and operating as a place to share entertainment with even more customers. We are now renovating the store, focusing on the theme of “a space where customers can encounter, experience, and connect with entertainment,” in order to evolve into a modern “comprehensive entertainment shop” that reflects the knowledge gained over the past 10 years since the store opened, changing customer needs, and the role expected of the “HMV & BOOKS SHIBUYA” store. We’re revamping our promotional area, focusing more on entertainment encounters and experiences. We’re expanding the pop-up space featuring a variety of content and adding a new one on the 6th floor. A new printing machine capable of printing bromides and stickers is also scheduled to be released next spring. We also plan to introduce and implement initiatives that will allow customers to become even more immersed in the experience. In addition, in collaboration with KDDI, we will expand the in-store event experience at HMV&BOOKS SHIBUYA to online using the multi-screen camera app “Chikemoo.” Starting on a trial basis in December, we aim to provide a new experience by alternating between footage focusing on individual members and a full-screen view. We also plan to expand and build a new event space in the spring. In addition, we’ve revised the store layout and expanded the entertainment merchandise section while retaining the music, video software, and book sales. The expanded merchandise section will be approximately twice the size of the previous section. We plan to sell merchandise for VTubers and streamers as a permanent section, and aim to provide a wide lineup that satisfies customers’ desires and make the store easy to browse and search. In addition, HMV&BOOKS SHIBUYA has teamed up with the VTuber girl group “ReGLOSS,” a member of hololive DEV_IS, who are celebrating their second anniversary since their debut, to hold special events such as an ONLY SHOP and release commemorative events. In addition, HMV&BOOKS SHIBUYA is planning a number of events and campaigns to commemorate its 10th anniversary, including more than 20 in-store events planned for the end of the year. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, HMV&BOOKS SHIBUYA is undergoing a renovation to become a space where customers can discover, experience, and connect with entertainment.
