We are pleased to announce that a seventh reprint has been announced for “The Policeman and the Maneki-neko: The Mysterious Everyday Life in the Town of Ayashiki” (author: Midori Uehara, illustrations: Shouichi), published by Kotonoha Bunko and produced by Micro Magazine Inc. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo). The “Policeman and the Maneki-neko” series, written by an author who is originally from and lives in Shizuoka, is a slightly mysterious and very gentle story set in a seaside town modeled after Shizuoka, featuring a talking cat and a young police officer. His fourth work, “The Policeman and the Maneki-neko: Secret Photos and the Scarlet Sky,” won the Grand Prize in the “Film-Wanted Paperback Category” at the 12th Shizuoka Bookstore Awards in December 2024, and his second volume, “The Policeman and the Maneki-neko: Rice Cakes, Burnt Rice, and the Round Moon,” saw its third reprint in July 2025.
