(Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Naoko Kimura; hereinafter “mizuiro”) has relaunched its “Vegetable Crayons(R),” made from discarded vegetables and fruits, and its brightly colored “Rice Crayons(R),” made from rice, with new vegetable colors and new packaging and wrapping paper. Vegetable Crayon (R)︎ “Vegetable Crayons(R)” are made by upcycling a variety of materials in collaboration with farmers and food manufacturers. For example, “Apples”: Skins discarded during dry chip processing. “Cabbages”: Outer leaves discarded during harvesting and non-standard cabbage. “Paprika”: Substandard products discarded during harvest. Materials that would normally be discarded, such as these, are reborn as crayons. The resulting “Vegetable Crayons(R)” feature the soft, natural colors of vegetables and fruits. The slightly rough texture you feel when drawing is proof that actual vegetable and fruit powder is included. You may also notice a subtle natural scent from the paper and crayons.
