Nursing rooms and baby rooms are indispensable when a child-rearing family goes out. Although the number of installation locations has increased due to the government’s obligation to install them, it is clear that the current situation is not yet high enough to be said to be satisfactory.
Babycam Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Masaiku Anzai) discusses the current problems with breastfeeding rooms used by families raising children when they go out, and what kind of breastfeeding rooms are ideal for mothers. In September 2022, we conducted an awareness survey for moms to find out what it is.

In response to the revision of the national barrier-free law, local governments have established ordinances requiring facilities such as nursing rooms, and the number of places where nursing rooms are installed is increasing. However, due to the facilities and operation of the nursing room, there are currently voices of anxiety and dissatisfaction when mothers and fathers who are currently raising children use it.
By surveying moms who are actually using the service, various problems and needs have come to light.
Based on the wishes and ideals of the nursing room, we hope that future nursing rooms will be improved to be more useful for families raising children.

Below are some of the wishes and ideals from moms.
・The number 1 is that the key can be closed in the private room! ・I want a kids’ circle where I can watch over my siblings in a safe space and equipment with chairs.
・I would appreciate it if there were more places where security was solid and dads could enter together.
・It is ideal to have a nursing room that can be put in a stroller and is always clean! !
・It’s cool, the nursing room is usually hot and both the child and myself are sweaty.
・Recently, not only moms but also dads change diapers and feed milk, but the nursing room has a strong atmosphere of being a mother’s space.
・I get thirsty while breastfeeding, so it would be nice to have a water server + paper cup or vending machine for moms.
・Because the voices of other babies bother you, there is soundproofing or soothing music, such as a music box.
・I want time to learn something about childcare while breastfeeding. (with posters and advertisements)
