What is Farm of Africa
Uganda faces the second largest freshwater lake in the world and is located at the headwaters of the Nile River. It is an agricultural powerhouse blessed with moderate rainfall and fertile soil. It is also attracting attention in African countries for its high organic potential.
Farm of Africa purchases and processes cacao and vanilla, mainly from small farmers who adopt organic farming methods in Uganda. At the same time, we grow cacao and vanilla in our own farm using organic farming methods. In Japan, we also supply brands such as Palais d’Or and DEAN & DELUCA.

Efforts to address issues in cocoa production areas
In Japan and other countries that consume chocolate and sweets, the terms SDGs and EGS have become more common, but on the other hand, in countries and regions that produce cacao and vanilla, which are the raw materials for these, child labor and There are still many problems such as environmental destruction.
All of Farm of Africa’s purchases are made directly from farmers. We have established our own evaluation criteria, such as farm conditions and child labor, and regularly check them. In addition, we are also working to eliminate middlemen and provide guidance to farmers on cultivation and harvesting to produce cacao with a high unit price, and are working to increase income even for small farmers.
We also promote agroforestry farming methods, which are a combination of agriculture and forestry, to farmers, and we also implement them on our own farms. In contrast to monoculture, where only a limited variety of vegetables are grown, this farming method involves cultivating a wide variety of agricultural and forestry products in symbiosis. By not only planting cacao trees, but also teaching them to plant shade trees and bananas together, we are spreading sustainable agriculture that has less burden on the natural environment. We have installed solar panels on our farm. Electricity on the farm is 100% operated by our own solar power generation, and we are also working to reduce CO2 emissions.
Efforts to improve quality
In order not only to solve problems but also to improve quality, we have established our own rules for cultivation and harvesting methods for farmers. In order to bring out the best aroma of cacao beans, we control the temperature and moisture in units of several hours and hundreds of kilograms in our own fermentation and drying processes. Even in sorting after drying, we perform thorough management such as removing all beans that give negative taste and aroma when
