GEOTRA Co., Ltd.
GEOTRA was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s “demonstration experiment project using big data.” In the eastern part of Tottori Prefecture, passenger flow analysis using people flow data and simulation technology, etc., and examination of wide-area traffic management methods have started.
GEOTRA Co., Ltd. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hirohiro Jinnai; hereinafter referred to as GEOTRA) has responded to the public offering for “demonstration projects utilizing big data” (Note 1) conducted by the Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. In collaboration with the prefectural government, we proposed “Investigation of passenger flow analysis and wide-area traffic management methods using people flow data and simulation technology in the eastern part of Tottori Prefecture,” and the project was adopted on October 12, 2022. In the eastern part of Tottori Prefecture (Tottori City, Iwami County, Yazu County), while there are traffic problems such as chronic traffic congestion in urban areas and near tourist spots, there is also the problem of lack of basic data for evaluating traffic demand. exists. In this project, GEOTRA Activity Data (Note 3) provided by GEOTRA will be used to analyze and evaluate traffic issues, and simulation technology will be used to predict and evaluate future traffic flow. wide-area traffic management method.
Prior to this project, we have started preliminary work with Tottori Prefecture in September 2022, and are proceeding with the construction and accuracy confirmation of traffic flow reproduction data using human flow data in the eastern part of Tottori Prefecture.
■Overview of this project

In the future, we will expand the target area from the eastern part of Tottori Prefecture to the entire prefecture, and consider using it for similar traffic issues in the prefecture and the western part. In addition, by adding attribute analysis, it will be possible to analyze the current situation, formulate measures, and predict the effects of promoting the use of public transportation within the region and the use of secondary transportation at stations and airports. It can be used in many ways, such as assessing the impact of large-scale detours when standard roads are closed for a long period of time.
GEOTRA aims to use the results of this analysis and the simulation model to develop a general-purpose wide-area transportation management method in rural areas, and to help solve the social and transportation issues faced by rural areas in Japan.
