NPO Japan Kidney Association (Location: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President: Naoki Kashiwabara; hereinafter, Japan Kidney Association) and AstraZeneca Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Takashi Horii; Zeneka) will start broadcasting a commercial featuring actress Rei Dan from October 3rd (Monday) as part of its efforts to raise awareness of chronic kidney disease.

Efforts to date for chronic kidney disease and new commercials On World Kidney Day, March 10, 2022, the NPO Japan Kidney Disease Association and AstraZeneca signed a “Comprehensive Partnership Agreement” regarding collaboration and cooperation for efforts to overcome kidney disease. The purpose of this agreement is to contribute to the further health promotion of the Japanese people by collaborating with the NPO Japan Kidney Association and AstraZeneca to make efforts to overcome kidney disease.
Chronic kidney disease is said to be one of the new national diseases, in which the kidneys are damaged for some reason, and the ability to filter blood is reduced, or proteinuria occurs. However, chronic kidney disease can be prevented from becoming severe by early intervention.
The purpose of this new commercial is to make people aware of the importance of early diagnosis of chronic kidney disease. In addition, in order to draw attention to the GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate) value, which is an important indicator of chronic kidney disease, we are sending out the message “If you have a GFR value of 59 or less, please consult a doctor.” Actress Rei Dan has appeared as an ambassador for this activity so that the message can reach more people.

Q. You were appointed as an Ambassador for Chronic Kidney Disease Awareness. Did you know that there is a disease called Chronic Kidney Disease?
A. I didn’t know about chronic kidney disease until I became an enlightenment ambassador. Since it is a kidney disease called the “silent organ,” I felt that I needed to think about it again. Q.Is there anything you have devised in terms of health examinations, complete physical examinations, and methods for early detection of illness?
A. Not only do I have regular check-ups, but I ask doctors about words and numbers that I don’t understand, and I look at the test sheets carefully myself.
Q. Please tell us about your enthusiasm for being appointed as a Chronic Kidney Disease Awareness Ambassador.
A. I heard that many people are suffering from chronic kidney disease, so much that it is said to be a “new national disease.” It is now said that we live in an age of 100 years. In order to enjoy a healthy and active life, it is very important to take care of your physical condition on a daily basis. I would start by talking to your doctor. If you can start from there, I think you can live a happy and bright life every day. Let’s do our best together.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a severe, progressive disease associated with decreased kidney function (decreased eGFR and/or changes in indicators suggestive of kidney damage persisting for more than 3 months). is defined).
