From 2021, we will publish the “Glasses White Paper” that summarizes the fact-finding survey. This year, the latest edition of “Glasses White Paper 2022” was published on Monday, October 10th, in conjunction with Eye Protection Day.
“Glasses White Paper 2022” targets eyeglasses and sunglasses users, in addition to a basic survey of users, such as usage conditions, changes in usage time over the past year, and purchase conditions, as well as usage scenes and concerns about glasses when wearing masks. We also conducted a survey on recent lifestyle changes and eyeglasses. This year, we also conducted a new prefectural survey on the ownership and use of eyeglasses and sunglasses.

“Usage scene of glasses”
The most common type of “prescription glasses” is “always wear regardless of purpose”, but this term recalls use while going out, such as “when driving a car or bicycle” and “when looking at (reading) something in the distance” The scene that makes you do it is at the top.
“Usage Scene of Sunglasses”
“When driving a car” is the most common, about 60%. This is followed by “when the sun is usually strong” and “when going to the beach for leisure”. The response rate for “When driving a car” was high among males, while the response rate for “Usually in strong sunlight” was high among females.
