LINE Research Conducts Survey on “National Travel Support” for Men and Women Nationwide

LINE Corporation operates LINE Research, a research platform dedicated to smartphones, based on the company’s largest active research panel in Japan, with approximately 6.13 million people.
We would like to announce the results of LINE Research’s survey of men and women across Japan regarding their recognition rate and intention to use the “National Travel Assistance” service.
*Details of the survey results can be found on LINE Research’s survey media “Research Note”:

■ Approximately 90% of people are aware of “National Travel
Assistance”, and less than 50% are aware of the content.
I asked if they knew about the “National Travel Assistance” that started on October 11th.
Overall, less than 10% of respondents answered that they “know the content well”, and around 40% answered that they “know the content to some extent” and “have heard the words to some extent”. It turns out that about 90% of people recognize “National Travel Support”, including recognition of words.
In addition, less than 50% of the respondents answered that they “know the content”, which is a combination of “I know the content well” and “I know the content to some extent”.
The graphs below show the aggregate results* by gender and age group. [Image 1

By gender, the proportion of men who answered that they “know the content well” was higher than that of men, but the proportion, including recognition of words, was around 90% for both men and women. By age group, less than 30% of teens answered that they “do not know anything”, which is higher than other age groups. It was found that the recognition rate increased with age.
■ Approximately 30% of people who are willing to use “National Travel Assistance” are “definitely want to use it.”
I asked if they would like to use “National Travel Assistance” in the future. Even those who did not know about “National Travel Assistance” were asked to answer after looking at a simple explanation of the initiative.
Overall, less than 30% said that they would like to use it, and less than 50% said that they would like to use it if given the chance. I understand.
On the other hand, the percentage of those who do not intend to use the service combined with “I do not want to use it very much” and “I do not want to use it at all” is just over 10%.
The graphs below show the aggregate results* by gender and age group. [Image 2

By gender, the intention to use females tended to be slightly higher than that of males.
By age group, the percentage of people in their 20s who said, “I definitely want to use it” was higher than other age groups, at less than 40%.

Finally, we asked those who were willing to use “National Travel Assistance” and those who were not, to answer their reasons. Opinions such as “I haven’t been able to go on a trip for a while, so I thought I would like to go if there was a discount” and “Because it will be cheaper and it will help me with my travel destination.” was given.
On the other hand, among those who did not intend to use the service, there were responses such as “Vaccine certification seems to be troublesome” and “It is difficult to travel because the child is small.”

“LINE Research” is a research platform for the smartphone era with the aim of maximizing business development and marketing activities in companies. Of the approximately 6.13 million active monitors, 50% are between the ages of 10 and 29*, making it possible to conduct surveys for students and young people with a low incidence rate. In addition, unlike conventional research panels, it is possible to contact people who have little interest in research, so it is possible to collect more general opinions. Since it is delivered by LINE push
notification, it is not only easy for users to respond in real time, but it is also possible to conduct surveys effectively by designing a screen that makes it easy to respond on smartphones.
* As of August 2022
