Since 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has been implementing the national movement “Think about Japan from food. Nippon Food Shift”, which focuses on deepening the connection between food and agriculture.

Purpose of the event
While securing a sustainable food supply has become a common global issue, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is aware of the recent changes in the food situation, and is working to ensure the future of Japan and our own food. In order to do so, we aim to create opportunities for consumers, agriculture, forestry and fisheries workers, and food business operators to meet and interact, make new awareness and discoveries about “food and agriculture,” and change their awareness and behavior.
This time, we are collaborating extensively with “Roadside Stations” in the six prefectures of Tohoku and local newspapers, and from the Tohoku region, we will think about Japan from food as an opportunity to think together about the challenges of “food” in Japan and the future we aim for. ■ Dissemination of information at an event where “Roadside Stations” in six Tohoku prefectures gather
At the “Tohoku 6 Prefecture ‘Michi-no-Eki’ Marugoto Festa” where the ‘Michi-no-Eki’ of Tohoku gather, students from the 6 Tohoku
prefectures presented the results of videos and panels created through on-site experiences such as agriculture, forestry and fisheries, and food manufacturing and processing. We will exhibit and sell products related to the experience.

■ Dissemination of information at 39 roadside stations in six Tohoku prefectures From October 19th (Wednesday) to November 18th (Friday), 2022, at one roadside station in each prefecture in Tohoku, videos of on-site experiences such as agriculture, forestry and fishery created by students will be held. In addition to broadcasting, information will be disseminated through enlightenment posters of Nippon Food Shift at all 39 roadside stations.
■ Cooperation with local newspapers in the six prefectures of Tohoku (introduction of on-site experiences such as agriculture, forestry and fisheries by students)
In cooperation with local newspaper companies in the Tohoku region, we will disseminate the contents of actual experiences in the field such as rural areas.
