~”The City of Hope Project: A Great Strategy From Here! Community and Welfare Design Lecture (5 classes in total)”~

NPO Houho will collaborate with studio-L to hold a workshop on the “City of Hope Project”. We will exchange ideas with the participants on how to connect welfare and community development while
incorporating the perspective of design. A total of 5 workshops (with other special programs) are planned. Satoshi Okuda, the chairman of the Board of Directors, will also participate in the first workshop. Together with the participants, we will think about the future of Kitakyushu from the perspective of welfare and design.
Town of Hope Project Workshop
At present, the NPO Hogo is promoting the Town of Hope Project to create a base for community and welfare on the site of the former headquarters of a designated dangerous crime group in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
Therefore, in preparation for the opening of the facility in 2024, we will hold a total of five lectures to think about ideas that would be nice for the town and facility while recruiting friends widely. In this course, we will think together with everyone about the activities, designs, mechanisms, functions, etc. necessary to connect the community and welfare, and put them into practice on a trial basis.
The course will be run with community designer Ryo Yamazaki’s studio-L. What kind of things can we start with everyone while incorporating the perspective of design? From here, we will be transmitting from Kokura and Kitakyushu to the whole country! [Image 1

What is the NPO Hobo Hope Town Project?
On April 28, 2020, the non-profit organization Hojo purchased the former site of the headquarters office of a gangster in Kitakyushu from a private company. And we named the project to revitalize the area that was the base of activity of this organized crime group as a base for all generations, including children and young people, to live together in the community.
In March 2022, donations from people all over the country will pay off the 130 million yen in land purchase funds borrowed from financial institutions, and a donation campaign for facility construction will start in April.
NPO Hoho builds a complex social welfare facility with various functions, and provides support for people living in the community, children, young people, the elderly, the poor, people with
disabilities, and all people who have difficulty living. will create a place that provides a “place and turn” for “living like that person”. The “Town of Hope Project” is a project that is carried out in collaboration with local residents.
We are planning various local events in the future.
