The Setouchi Triennale 2022 Prefectural Excursion Project “Oidemai Festival 2022 ~Art that Connects Hearts and Towns~” (hereafter referred to as “Oidemai Festival”) will be held under the theme of connecting people with the direct power of art. Various programs are being held in Takamatsu City and Kotohira Town until Sunday, June 6th. At Kotohira-gu Shrine, which enshrines the god of the sea, which I have been participating in since the fall of the Oidemai Festival, I am currently exhibiting “KOMAINU-Guardian Beasts-” by contemporary artist Kenji Yanobe around Mihotsuhime Shrine, and “SHIP’S”. CAT (Thinker/Sleeper)” is on display in Omoteshoin Tiger Room. Along with that, a special goshuin (red stamp) made in collaboration with Mr. Kenji Yanobe, Kotohira-gu Shrine, and the Oidemai Festival will be available at the Kotohira-gu Main Shrine God Fudasho from October 8th (Sat) to November 6th (Sun). ), it was decided that a limited number of 5,000 copies (firstfruits fee of 1,000 yen) will be awarded. This goshuinshi is a limited goshuinshi with the ink painting-style “Guardian Beast KOMAINU” drawn by Mr. Kenji Yanobe for Kotohiragu Shrine, and the logo of Oidemai Festival.
Also, near the entrance to the approach to Kotohira-gu Shrine, there is a banner with Kenji Yanobe’s “KOMAINU” and “SHIP’S CAT” laid out, and we will watch over the entrance to the approach during the dedication exhibition period.
And for a limited time until November 6th (Sunday), Kotohira Bus is also wrapping the buses used for day tours with a design in which 2 vs. 4 bodies are scattered. In this tour, tour participants will receive a pamphlet describing Mr. Yanobe’s thoughts on the exhibition at Kotohira and Kotohira-gu Shrine and a “SHIP’S CAT” bill card drawn for the tour. In addition, you can watch a video that passionately talks about Mr. Yanobe’s works and projects on the bus on the way. This bus tour departs from Takamatsu Station/WeBase Takamatsu, walks around Kotohira Town, and then returns to Takamatsu as a day tour. It will be an art time unique to the art festival period that you can not experience by train or car.
If you want to fully enjoy Kenji Yanobe’s fascinating world, how about staying at the community hotel and hostel “WeBase Takamatsu”? “SHIP’S CAT (Returns)” enshrined outside the hotel welcomes travelers with a “return cat” looking back with “return” and “repayment”. Only hotel guests can see the back view of “SHIP’S CAT”. Yanobe’s illustrations are scattered here and there in the lounge and some rooms of the hotel. WeBase is the only place where you can stay with Yanobe’s works. Special accommodation plans are available during the Oidemai Festival. If you haven’t decided on a place to stay, or are considering staying one more night, be sure to check out the official website where you can stay at a great price.
In the refreshing air of autumn, enjoy a moment of intoxication with the charm of new art in the city and Kotohira.
