■ Implementation background
Due to the increase in Internet purchases, the number of parcel delivery services has increased rapidly, redeliveries have increased, CO2 emissions have increased, and couriers’ working hours have increased. In a demonstration experiment using OKIPPA in 300 households conducted in Oita Prefecture last year, 87.7% of the respondents answered that using OKIPPA led to a reduction in redeliveries, resulting in approximately We have a track record of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 359.4 kg. This year, we are looking for resident monitors to further reduce redelivery within the area and to make a decarbonized society a habit.

■About the delivery bag OKIPPA
[Image 2
OKIPPA is a simple hanging delivery box that eliminates the need for complicated redelivery receipts. It is possible to receive packages non-face-to-face, not only when you are away but also when you are at home.
It can be easily attached to the entrance door knob, and installation work is unnecessary. It can be folded into a palm size when not in use, so it does not take up space in the entrance even if it is permanently installed. It has been well received by heavy users of EC (online shopping) and people who live in houses without delivery boxes, and since its general release in September 2018, more than 180,000 units have been sold nationwide. (As of September 2022) As a countermeasure against theft and leakage of personal information, two types of locks (lock for doorknob and inner key for cylinder padlock) are used. In the unlikely event of theft, “OKIPPA plus” provides both free and paid theft support (*).
* Paid support is a dedicated theft compensation “Delivery Insurance” jointly developed with Tokio Marine & Nichido.

■ A carbon-neutral experience that can be done with the delivery bag OKIPPA [Image 3
OKIPPA, which was adopted by Oita Prefecture this time, is a product that allows users to experience “carbon neutral” by using it 20 times. In December 2020, under the supervision of the Sustainable Management Promotion Organization (SuMPO), we calculated the effect of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the product life cycle. As a result of LCA, when the number of times redelivery was reduced using OKIPPA exceeded 20 times per user, the CO2 emissions from the manufacturing, distribution, and disposal processes for one OKIPPA were offset (carbon offset ), which has been proven to be carbon neutral.
