The period is Food Loss Reduction Month (October 8-31), and the participating stores are 6 department stores and supermarkets. Based on the actual usage data during the campaign, we will verify the effect of reducing food loss, etc., and use data science to compile scientific knowledge that will help reduce food loss.
As an initiative to reduce food loss generated at food supermarkets, etc., the Low Carbon and Waste Recycling Research Center of National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita Ward, Okayama City; President: Hiroshi Makino) and Okayama University Official Club (Alumni Association) The DS (Data Science) Department, Environment Department ECOLO, and Okayama University SDGs Ambassadors collaborated to plan and operate the “Norifuku Campaign”, an initiative to reduce food loss through live broadcasts of food sales floors such as department stores and supermarkets. Based on usage data, etc. during this campaign period, we will verify the effects of reducing food loss and greenhouse gases, and compile scientific findings that will help reduce food loss through analysis using data science.
