Implemented a digital key that can be operated with a smartphone completely non-face-to-face and contactless for one-way rental car “Simpway” with completely free drop-off fee

Pathfinder Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Itabashi-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yusuke Onozaki; hereinafter referred to as Pathfinder), a venture company specializing in the development and research of MaaS/logistics services, is a “one-way car rental service with completely free drop-off fees.” “Simpway” (hereinafter referred to as “Simpway”) is equipped with a smartphone provided by Tokai Rika Co., Ltd.
(Headquarters: Oguchi-cho, Niwa-gun, Aichi Prefecture, President: Hiromi Ninoyu, hereinafter referred to as Tokai Rika). We introduced TOKAI RIKA Digitalkey(R) “FREEKEY Box” that can be locked and started operation. This eliminates the need for conventional physical keys, and eliminates the hassle of going to the key box to pick up and return physical keys. We will continue to improve the service to be chosen by customers while installing cutting-edge functions. Introduction of TOKAI RIKA Digitalkey(R) “FREEKEY Box”
This operation will be realized by linking our Simpway vehicle reservation management system and Tokai Rika’s FREEKEY application with an API, and unlocking and locking the key with the application downloaded by the user.
When a vehicle is reserved, a digital key is automatically delivered to the smartphone app of the person making the reservation. Vehicles can be unlocked and locked via the app, eliminating the need for a physical key. This will also prevent you from losing or misplacing your keys.

Efforts so far
Japan’s first one-way rental car service “Simpway” operated
Pathfinder launched the nation’s first dedicated one-way rental car forwarding outlet platform. With regular rental cars, the user must return the vehicle to the departure store within a set time, so flexible travel and stay options may not be available. One-way drop-off is possible with regular rental cars, but the rental car company must carry out the forwarding work to return the vehicle from the drop-off destination return store to the original departure store. payment will occur.
As a one-way exclusive service, Simpway provides free movement at a low price by making this “drop-off fee completely free”.
Simpway service overview
■ Basic charge: From 5,000 yen for 10 hours between Tokyo and Osaka (other sections are being expanded)
■ How to use: Users can use LINE and FREEKEY to complete contactless and unattended rental from reservation to use with a smartphone. With this update, the shift to smartphone keys eliminates the need to receive and return physical keys.
the next deployment
We will introduce dynamic pricing to set usage prices, optimize the balance between customer needs and prices, and provide services at lower prices. In addition, we will expand the service area and build an algorithm that optimally allocates vehicles located at multiple locations to increase the matching rate between customers and vehicles and enable more unrestricted use. We will continue to expand the functions with the aim of further improving user convenience.
