Tokyo, October 13, 2022: Royal Enfield, the global leader in the mid-duty motorcycle segment, today launches the brand’s first urban scrambler, the Scram 411, in Japan. With the Scram 411, Royal Enfield has created a new category of high-performance street scramblers that offer sporty and versatile riding. Based on the proven LS-410 engine platform adopted by Royal Enfield for the Himalayan, and the chassis developed by British frame specialist Harris Performance, the Scram 411 is a light and nimble engine in urban areas. Combining performance with high drivability on rough roads, it is a perfect fit for the diverse road environments in Japan.
The Scram 411 continues Royal Enfield’s constant quest to create a motorcycle that is the perfect companion for any adventure. The representative model is the brand’s first adventure model “Himalayan”. The “Scram 411” is based on the “Himalayan”, and is a new type of motorcycle that combines true adventure DNA with a light scrambler style.
Commenting on Scram 411, Anuj Dua, Head of Operations, Asia Pacific Markets, said:
“The Scram 411 adapts to a wide range of road environments. Most Scrambler-type motorcycles focus on styling. We decided to create a motorcycle that could handle both urban and rough roads. The unique design, playful colors and friendly riding position make the Scram 411 the ultimate urban scrambler.Asia The adventure segment is a rapidly growing segment in the Pacific, and we believe the Scram 411 will be a great companion for riders of all careers and styles. In Japan, traffic is heavy. We believe there is great potential for urban motorcycles that are agile and easy to handle even in urban areas, and the Scram 411 is the perfect choice.”
The Scram 411 is equipped with a 411cc air-cooled single-cylinder SOHC 4-stroke engine with fuel injection. It has a maximum output of 24.3bhp/6500rpm and a maximum torque of 32Nm/4000-4500rpm. The power characteristics of the engine make it easy to handle for riders of all careers, making urban travel a breeze and off-roading a challenge with ease. Today, air-cooled engines with a displacement of 400cc or more have become a minority, but they also clear the strict Euro 5 regulations and are also air-cooled engines with excellent
environmental performance.
The front fork has an upright telescopic suspension with a diameter of 41mm and a stroke of 190mm, and the rear suspension has a link-type monoshock with a stroke of 180mm as standard equipment. By adopting dual-channel ABS for the front and rear brakes and securing a minimum ground clearance of 200mm, which is the highest in its class, it achieves excellent off-road performance. It also supports the ever-changing road surface environment in urban areas, which can never be said to be good. Combined with good foot grounding, it maximizes the enjoyment of riding the Scram 411 by providing riders with comfort and security.
Wheel sizes are 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear. While the base model Himalayan uses a 21-inch front wheel to maximize off-road performance, the Scram 411 uses a 19-inch front wheel to improve driving performance on paved roads. and off-road running performance at a high level. Changing the front wheel size also changed the body posture, which is also a factor in achieving a high-dimensional balance between on-road and off-road.
The seat of the Scram 411 is designed to keep riders comfortable on long rides. Reflecting urban styling, the new one-piece seat offers rider and passenger the same level of comfort, whether traveling in urban areas, long touring or riding in poor road conditions. In addition, the seat height has been improved by changing the wheel size and seat shape. It also improved the foot grounding.
The Scram 411’s riding position is ergonomically designed. When the rider sits in the seat and hands are stretched out, the natural position of the handlebars creates a relaxed riding position while increasing the rider’s focus. We also designed the shape of the knee grip of the fuel tank, taking into consideration the standing position where the rider stands on the step.
Scram 411 is designed with coloring inspired by street culture such as skateboarding and active night culture in Tokyo and New Delhi. A total of 7 color variations are available in 3 types. The Scram 411, which uses graphite yellow, graphite red, and graphite blue color names, has a gray fuel tank with a 411 graphic on the side and a tank badge of the same color as the color name. We also designed the side panel logo and wheel rim tape that match the body color. Skyline blue and blazing black are designed with stripes on the fuel tank in colors that symbolize the Royal Enfield brand. The top-of-the-line models, the White Frame and Silver Spirit, have their tank colors designed with unique and fun graphics.
The Scram 411 is available with 19 genuine motorcycle accessories that enhance comfort, body protection and style to suit your lifestyle and riding field. Those items are designed and developed at the same time as vehicle development. Apparel and riding gear are both stylish and functional. It works beautifully whether you’re exploring dirt roads or zipping around town. Lifestyle apparel showcases the Scram 411 lifestyle with vibrant colors and distinctive graphics.
Scram 411s sold at Royal Enfield authorized dealers also come with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty. Genuine accessories also come with a 3-year warranty after installation.
