The Creative Center considers Color, Material, and Finish, and is engaged in activities to propose colors and materials that should be incorporated into future products and services from a unique perspective. These three words are also called “CMF”, and they are one of the important elements for providing products and services that deeply resonate with people’s hearts. In order to give different impressions even with the same material according to changes in social background, etc., we have formed a global team of designers from Japan and overseas, and are continuously conducting trend analysis and field research on CMF.
In this exhibition, you can see the latest CMF themes, derived from a designer’s point of view, based on predictions of the future based on the results of global trend research, as well as samples that reflect these themes in objects, movies, and user interfaces. In addition, we are planning to hold a talk session with Sony designers.
The global pandemic has created trends that have slowed and
accelerated far beyond previous expectations, as well as new trends that have never been seen before. We will explore the direction of CMF in products and services by taking advantage of the signs of future trends captured by the creative sensibilities unique to Sony designers.

Shortly after its founding, Sony quickly recognized the importance of design, and established the Design Office (currently the Creative Center) in 1961. Based on Sony’s DNA of “doing what no one else has done,” the Creative Center has expanded its activities to include electronics, entertainment, finance, and other business areas, and carries out a wide range of designs, including brands and interfaces. . We will continue to explore all the possibilities of design, and work with people around the world to realize a richer and more comfortable lifestyle, and to create the “prototype” of new value brought about by the fusion of creativity and technology.
