Ibasho creation project Learning support
Currently, it is said that about 1 in 7 children in Japan have financial difficulties. (Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare: “Overview of the 2019 National Life Basic Survey”) The certified NPO Otera Oyatsu Club connects temples nationwide that agree with the purpose of the activity and organizations in each region that support children and single-parent families. We deliver “sharing” such as sweets, fruits, food and daily necessities. Temples, support groups, supporters, and local residents all over the country are working together to solve the problem of child poverty.
From 2022, the organization has started the “Creating a place for children” project to create a place that is neither a home nor a school where children can easily gather so that they do not miss the voice of “help me”. Among single-parent families facing financial difficulties, there are children who spend long hours alone during the day and after school due to parents working double jobs. If you spend a lot of time alone, you will not be able to talk to someone when you are in trouble, and you will be more likely to become mentally unstable if you spend time at home with a feeling of loneliness. put away. In today’s world where there are few opportunities to interact with adults outside of school, it is necessary for children to meet adults they want to depend on and have a place where they can feel safe and secure.
In order to solve such problems, from June 2022, we will use a vacant house in Tawaramoto Town, Nara Prefecture, where the secretariat is located, and start renovation work with local children. It will be pre-opened in August, and full-scale activities will begin in October. We meet local children in a place created by everyone, listen to pleasant conversations and sometimes painful stories, and create opportunities that lead to appropriate support as needed.
