In order to explore the various possibilities of cacao, for this exhibition, we asked Fumiyo Imafuku, a university professor and artist who specializes in plant dyeing, to create a “cacao dyeing forest”. Enjoy the world of rich cacao colors while strolling through the cocoa-dyed silk organza forest.
“Cacao pods, cocoa husks, cocoa beans, cocoa branches and leaves, there are different pigments in various parts. I experimented many times and challenged myself to see how much beautiful natural colors I could dye with cacao alone. We boiled it down to extract the pigment and dyed it on silk organza.” – Fumiyo Imafuku
