Aiming for a town that does not go out of business! Toyohashi City launches a leaflet specializing in business succession for the first time in a municipality

The business succession of small and medium-sized enterprises that support local economies is becoming a serious problem nationwide. Toyohashi City in Aichi Prefecture is also working to make business succession an urgent issue, aiming to create a “Toyohashi City that does not let businesses go out of business.” In September, we launched a leaflet with an emphasis on business succession, in order to make people feel familiar with business succession and give them an opportunity to think about it.
The title is “Toyohashi, a town that does not let businesses go out of business.”
This is the first time that a local government has issued a leaflet specializing in business succession.

The first issue of the leaflet “Toyohashi, a town that won’t let you go out of business” specializing in business succession
In the first issue, in addition to describing the city’s policy on business succession, we introduced examples of companies in the city that are working on succession within relatives to make it easier to imagine business succession.
An employee of the Toyohashi City Commerce and Industry Promotion Division interviewed the company and summarized the company’s comments and the flow of business succession.
“It was a story about interfering between parents and children, but thanks to their cooperation, we were able to publish it, and it was well received that we could understand the flow of business
succession,” said a city official.
In addition, the contents of support and phone numbers of counseling organizations such as the Toyohashi Satellite Office of the Aichi Prefecture Business Succession Support Center are posted, making it easy to understand what kind of support you can receive.
In order to dispel the image of business succession, which tends to be taken seriously, we used a refreshing blue as the base color and expressed the important feelings of the owner with a pink heart on the cover.
It is important to enlighten business owners and successors so that they can work smoothly on business succession, which takes 5 to 10 years. For that reason, we launched a leaflet with content that you can feel familiar with.
The leaflet is enclosed in the newsletter of the Toyohashi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and is also available at financial
institutions, city hall, etc. From now on, we will publish it twice a year to deliver useful information.
It is also published on the Toyohashi City Commerce and Industry Promotion Division website and Instagram.

The city will launch the Toyohashi Business Succession Plaza in August 2021 together with the Toyohashi Satellite Office of the Aichi Prefecture Business Succession Support Center, the Toyohashi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and local financial institutions.
Enlightenment and support such as consultation will be strengthened. We also hold regular seminars twice a year and individual
consultations twice a month.
A city official said, “If you are a successor who is thinking that you have to take over the business, or if you are worried about it, or if you are a business owner who is thinking about closing the business, please feel free to contact us.” talking
Toyohashi City will continue to do its utmost to support business succession.
