Arc Edge Space successfully launched the second microsatellite “OPTIMAL-1”
Arc Edge Space Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Takayoshi Fukushiro), which promotes low-orbit constellations and deep space exploration using microsatellites, is our second microsatellite. We are pleased to announce the successful launch of “OPTIMAL-1”. OPTIMAL-1 was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 4:20 on November 27, 2022 Japan time by the Dragon spacecraft aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. The launch, the 26th Commercial Resupply Service (CRS-26) mission to the International Space Station by the Dragon spacecraft, docked at the International Space Station at around 21:40 on the same day. OPTIMAL-1 was also transported to the International Space Station by the Dragon spacecraft.
Future plans
OPTIMAL-1 will be carried out from the airlock of the Japanese Experiment Module “Kibo” on the International Space Station in January 2023 and will be launched into outer space using the JEM Small Satellite Orbital Deployer (J-SSOD). It is scheduled to be released. After the release, the initial operation will be conducted for about one month, and various demonstration experiments will be conducted on the ultra-compact propulsion system, communication equipment, and on-orbit advanced information processing technology.
