In the domestic startup funding ranking for January-October 2022, Shizen Energy has ranked first as a new company. In addition, UPSIDER, which was ranked 13th in last month’s ranking, announced a new funding of 46.7 billion yen, moving up to 2nd place.
Shizen Energy, which engages in the power generation business (IPP) and business development of renewable energy power plants, will raise 20 billion yen in convertible bonds with stock acquisition rights in October 2022, all of which will be underwritten by the Quebec Savings and Investment Corporation of Canada. We also agreed on a joint investment framework that envisions an investment of 50 billion yen. Through this procurement, we aim to accelerate the energy transition in Japan and overseas, mainly in the Asia-Pacific region and Brazil. UPSIDER, which operates the corporate card “UPSIDER” that supports growth and listing, raised 46.7 billion yen in October 2022 by securing loans and credit lines from financial institutions.
