Bellwood Vineyard established in Kubote, Kaminoyama City, Yamagata Prefecture Kaminoyama City, Yamagata Prefecture, an ideal place rich in nature with a panoramic view of the Zao mountain range
In 2017, Mr. Suzuki took advantage of his 19 years of grape
cultivation and winemaking experience to become independent. While searching for the ideal location to start his own brand, the Kaminoyama Wine Village Project was launched in Kaminoyama City, Yamagata Prefecture, with the aim of revitalizing the region through wine and attracting new wineries. . Kaminoyama City has a climate that is suitable for growing fruit trees, and is a land where good grapes can be grown. We decided to start farming in the Kubote area because it has a track record of cultivating European grapes. By using local grapes, we are working to prevent abandoned farmland and revitalize the region.

The Kubote/Uramachi district of Kaminoyama City, Yamagata Prefecture, where Bellwood Vineyard is located, is located on a slightly elevated plateau at an altitude of about 250m, and the soil is characterized by strong clay mixed with stones. The main vineyard is located on a small hill on a south-facing and north-facing slope, and has excellent drainage, sunlight, ventilation, and scenery, providing various favorable conditions for grape cultivation. Currently, we cultivate multiple grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, and Delaware with kernels on our farm. In an area rich in nature with a panoramic view of the Zao mountain range, we spare no effort in cultivating our grapes to create wine that brings out the best in the grapes.
Suzuki = Bellwood. A logo inspired by the liberty bell, a symbol of independence “Bellwood Vineyard” is named after Mr. Suzuki’s last name, “BELL” and “WOOO”. The logo and label design, which has a reputation for being fashionable, was created over a long period of time with Mr. Ushio Tsuchizawa, an editorial and graphic designer living in Kaminoyama City, Yamagata Prefecture. The motif of the logo design is the “Liberty Bell”, which is a symbol of independence and freedom in the United States, since he retired from the winery he worked for for many years and became independent. Suzuki’s passion for American culture, such as fashion, vehicles, and design, is included.
Express yourself with what you love. Careful label design for each line The wine label uses Mr. Suzuki’s face as a business card, as well as letters and stamps with the image of “sending this year’s news to those who drink it every year”. It is a design that incorporates Mr. Suzuki’s desire to let many people know about the winery, just like the logo.
