The “winter sunflowers” that bloomed in three places in Samukawa Town are in full bloom.
The “Winter Sunflowers”, now in its 7th year, have been carefully nurtured by sowing seeds in fields and flowerbeds in the town by volunteers and the Samukawa Tourism Association.
This is an initiative initiated by the Samukawa Town Tourism Association to change the bleak image associated with the name of the town, Samukawa. It is used as fertilizer for potatoes.
According to a volunteer who was there, “We sowed the seeds on September 26th this year, but due to the climate, it was difficult to get them to bloom in time for tours and other events.” Looking at the sunflowers, he spoke with a smile.
