The black and white hand-painted three-dimensional works, which can be said to be Yabuno’s representative works, continue to grow and change their appearance day by day. In addition to these three-dimensional works, this exhibition also presents new drawings in charcoal and pastel. The various motifs drawn on the flat canvas and drawing paper can be said to be an accumulation of images born from associations. As the artist himself says, “My work was born instead of thinking with my head and refusing to put it into words.”
In commemoration of this exhibition, a KENSEI YABUNO x PORTER capsule collection will also be launched. We will release 5 limited bags with delicate hand-drawn patterns on nylon material using advanced printing technology.
Black and white painted iconic intricate sculptures by Kensei Yabuno are transformative and multiplying for eternity. Connecting with dynamic sculptures, new pastel and charcoal drawings on flat canvas and paper will be revealed in the show. The various motifs expressed within the drawings are associated with images that outline the elusive concept. As Kensei states: “My work reflects the refusal of overthinking and putting it into words,” his impulsive body of works, which turned himself inside out is on display in the “Untitled” show. KENSEI YABUNO × PORTER CAPSULE COLLECTION
