On September 26, 2022, the Japan Tourism Agency made an announcement regarding nationwide travel support. *1 Along with this, it is believed that the momentum for domestic tourism will increase. And while the new normal and digital shift are being called out, each prefecture is operating an official tourist site. Although it should not be compared with the cross-sectional tourist sites of private business companies, we conducted our own research on what kind of search needs there are for sites that are official and specialized for one’s own prefecture. 460,000 accesses (monthly) in Osaka prefecture ranked first in inflow Below is a survey using Ahrefs on the number of natural search inflows to the official tourism sites of 47 prefectures. Osaka ranked first, with a difference of about 70,000 PV in terms of the number of inflows compared to Tokyo. Mie prefecture ranked third.

Most Official Tourism Sites Temporarily Affected by Core Algorithms Below is a survey of search inflow trends since January 2019 using Ahrefs for 11 official tourism sites, starting with Osaka Prefecture, which has the highest inflow. The inflow trend of the official tourism sites of prefectures other than Tokyo is almost the same. Especially noticeable is the Google Core Algorithm Update in November 2021 and May 2022, with most sites showing a significant decrease in inflow and then showing signs of recovery.

Only Tokyo shows a trend different from the other 10 sites. Since the beginning of 2020, when corona became a social problem, the inflow has decreased at a stretch with no growth. Although it has recovered since then, we have yet to see any significant growth.

Below, we used Ahrefs to compare the number of search inflows between September 2019 and September 2022 for 11 official tourism sites, starting with Osaka Prefecture, which has the highest inflows, and calculated the degree of growth. In addition to the fact that Tokyo’s movement is different from others in the first place, the growth rate is also sluggish.

The page with the most search traffic on the Mie Prefecture Tourism Official Website is the article on the commercial facility “Vison” Below are the top 10 pages with the highest number of search inflows for each page of Mie Prefecture’s official tourism website, which ranked third in monthly search inflows after Tokyo among the 47 prefectural official tourism sites. According to this, the article with the largest number of search inflows was an article written at the time of the opening of the commercial facility “Vison” in Taki-cho, Mie Prefecture.

“Vison” as a search word grew from zero before opening to about 150,000 per month
