Smappa! is the author of “Shinjuku Kabukicho: Why Do People Seek the Night Town?” Group (Chairman: Maki Tezuka) purchased a Noh stage in Kabukicho before the war.
In “Shinjuku Kabukicho Why do people want a night town?” Taking over, the determination that I wrote that I want to live as a part of the history of Kabukicho has become a concrete form.
The Noh stage is named “Shinjuku Kabukicho Noh Stage,” and includes performances of various traditional performing arts and cultural tourism content, including rehearsals of chants and dances by Shizuo Nakajima, a Kanze-style Noh actor (general designated holder of important intangible cultural properties). Through creation, we plan to use it as a place to disseminate Japanese culture both domestically and internationally.
“Shinjuku Kabukicho: Why Do People Seek the Night Town?”, which is filled with Tezuka’s thoughts on Kabukicho, was made into a manga and a stage play, and on November 9th, the manga “Kabukicho Host Living the Night” will be released.・Maki Tezuka Monogatari” (Ryo Kurashina, original story, Akira Yanagiba, drawing) is released. In addition, the stage play “Yatori Shobe ~ Living the Night ~ Kabukicho Host Maki Tezuka Monogatari” will be performed at Shinjuku Theater Moliere from November 17th to November 27th.

◆ Tezuka Maki
Chairman of “Smappa! Group”, which has more than 20 host clubs, bars, restaurants, and beauty salons in Kabukicho. Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1977. Permanent Director of the Kabukicho Shopping District Promotion Association. JSA certified sommelier. Started working in Kabukicho in 1996, became the number one host, and became independent. Together with his friends, he established the host volunteer group “Yatori no Kai” and conducts street cleanup activities at night. In 2017, the first bookstore in Kabukicho, the Kabukicho Book Center, opened and became a hot topic. In December 2018, we started a nursing care business centered on the “hospitality” spirit cultivated in the hospitality industry.
