Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd.
11/18 (Friday) Announcement of the opening of “MUJI East Mall Daisen” The first store to open in the southern district of Akita Prefecture, a store next to a supermarket that is closely tied to the community
Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. (Toshima-ku, Tokyo/President: Nobuo Domae), which develops MUJI, has opened “MUJI East Mall Daisen” (hereinafter referred to as our store) in the commercial facility “East Mall” in Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. It will open on Friday, November 18th. MUJI aims to “support the basics of life throughout the country”, and is currently promoting the opening of stores in areas where people live, such as next to local food supermarkets. We are trying to offer it at a fair price. We aim to increase convenience by opening stores in areas where there have been no MUJI stores in the past, in areas where customers live, and by implementing products that support the basics of daily life and initiatives that are closely tied to local communities.
This store will be the fourth store in Akita Prefecture. The three stores so far are located in the northern districts of Akita City and Oga City, and this will be the first store to open in the southern district.
■ Features of the new store
1. A store where you can find clothes, household goods, and foods that are useful in your daily life
Our store, which is the second store adjacent to a supermarket in Akita Prefecture * 1, has a wide line for easy shopping, and also has cleaning supplies, kitchen supplies, stationery, towels, seasonal clothes, and other daily necessities for daily life. We have a wide range of products centered on daily necessities. *1 This is the second store following MUJI Itoku Oga Shopping Center (opening on April 21, 2022).
2. Handling frozen foods and chilled sweets
This is the second store in Akita Prefecture, and we will introduce “frozen food”, which is often requested by customers. Frozen foods are frozen while maintaining their freshly prepared taste. Starting with “Kimpa”, we have a lineup that will save you time when preparing your daily meals, such as “Edamame salted kelp rice balls with sticky barley rice”, “Salt koji fried chicken” and “Gyoza with domestic black pork”. In addition, the chilled sweets such as the “two-layered cheesecake”, which can be enjoyed only by refrigeration, are made by learning recipes from Europe, the home of western confectionery, and making the most of the deliciousness of the ingredients.
3. Stores connected to the community
At our store, we will set up a “healthy spot” as one of the
initiatives of the “Daisen City Healthy Community Development Project”. At the wellness spot, you can easily check the number of steps and calories burned using the activity meter, and check the changes in your body with the measurement information of the installed body composition monitor and blood pressure monitor. We will help you improve your health while enjoying your daily shopping.
In addition, we will hold a “Tsunagaru-ichi”* where we will hold events such as marche sales and workshops in collaboration with people of various genres who are active locally. By introducing local people, goods, information, and places, we aim to become a place for producers, consumers, and residents to interact with each other. *2 About Tsunagaru City
The “Tsunagaru-ichi” held irregularly at MUJI stores nationwide is a limited-time market that is created and operated together with local residents based on the concept of “connecting people, connecting communities.” Starting in October 2017 at MUJI Yurakucho (closed in December 2018), it is now being held at MUJI stores nationwide. In the future, we will continue to use the MUJI passport app and in-store bulletin boards to continuously inform local residents of events held at stores as information dissemination bases that convey the appeal of the region.
4. Environmentally friendly activities
The following are environmentally friendly activities introduced at “MUJI East Mall Daisen.”
Water supply service
As part of the reduction of plastic waste, we will install a water dispenser in the store and start a free water supply service. Tap water is used for drinking water that can be used with this water supply machine. If you bring your own bottle instead of buying a new bottled drink, anyone can easily fill up with drinking water. clothing collection
We collect used MUJI textile products. The collected textile products are recycled as raw materials for clothes. In addition, some of the collected products are re-dyed and resold as ReMUJI at some MUJI stores. * ReMUJI is not sold at MUJI Tsuruya Azumino Hotaka. Ice pack recovery
We will start collecting and reusing unused ice packs. The collected items are washed, sterilized, frozen, and reused as frozen food to take home.
