My Product, which aims for solidarity from diversity, accepts interns with roots in foreign countries
~Co-creation of an internship program that nurtures “people” who will take on social issues~
MyProduct Co., Ltd. (hereafter, MyProduct) has collaborated with the Roots Project of the certified NPO Katariba (hereafter, Katariba) to accept interns with foreign roots.
My Product supports the comprehensive support model for multicultural coexistence practiced by Katariba (4C model based on “Community”, “Career”, “Capacity” and “Care”), and plans and holds an internship program. For the first time, we accepted high school students who have a strong interest in media/creativity, and held a program in Kasumigaura City, Ibaraki Prefecture, where they were staying and interviewing, to relive the production of our company’s own media “CRAFTRIP”.
We will continue to value solidarity with colleagues who have diverse backgrounds, passions, and skills, and aim to be a cradle that continues to nurture “people” who can take on social issues. [Image 1
About Katariba “Roots Project”
According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s “Survey on the Acceptance of Children Who Need Japanese Language Instruction (2021)”, there are about 5,000 high school students nationwide who need Japanese language instruction, and the number has increased in the last 10 years. It has increased about 2.2 times.
In the Katariba Roots Project
(https://www.katariba.or.jp/activity/project/multicultural/), high school students with foreign roots connect with Japanese society and opportunities, turning “experience” into strength, I would like to create a society where each person can demonstrate their potential regardless of their circumstances. Through encounters with adults and peers who have high hopes for their future and explore possibilities together, we nurture young people’s “motivation and creativity.” We provide comprehensive support throughout high school class hours and after school hours, and aim to build a system that supports the activities of children and young people together with society, rather than throwing the potential of children and young people entirely at home or school. .
Overview of the internship program
We matched intern students with interview sites in Kasumigaura City, Ibaraki Prefecture, where they are interviewing in the travel community co-creation journal “CRAFTRIP (https://craftrip.com/)” operated by My Product. We planned this project with the aim of providing a new connection with society to high school students with roots in foreign countries who have moved to a sensitive adolescent and have reset their learning power and friendships that they have accumulated so far. It was a program in which participants visited various people and places in the region, conducted filming and interviews, and experienced a real news gathering site.
Through this program, we hope to arouse new interests in high school students with foreign roots and provide an opportunity for them to develop their careers in Japan.

Comments from an intern student
I was able to spend a luxurious day. I was very interested in photography and videography, and I am very grateful that I was able to talk to these professionals and learn about how I can improve. I wanted to make use of what I was taught and do my best in shooting. I was very happy that I had the opportunity to communicate with many people through my internship. I learned that I can make friends with adults and that there are many possibilities.
Until now, I only went to certain places in Japan. Kasumigaura City, which I visited this time, was such a wonderful place that I wanted to go there even in my private time. I would like to introduce it to my friends.
I will do my best to make use of this experience to become a world-class photographer.
MyProduct will continue to co-create with businesses such as Katariba and provide career consulting through an internship program for students with diverse roots. By building a program that matches the participating students, we aim to discover new possibilities and produce “humans” who will take on social issues.
