◆Overview
National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita Ward, Okayama City; President: Hiroshi Makino) will commemorate those who donated their bodies for dissection practice at Okayama University and for clarification of the causes of diseases on November 12, 2022. Annual Okayama University Anatomical Memorial Service” was held at Junko Fukutake Hall (J Hall) in the Shikata area.
This year’s event was held on a smaller scale due to the impact of the new coronavirus, with approximately 190 people attending, including bereaved families, faculty and staff members of the university, and students. Attendees offered flowers at the altar and prayed for the repose of the souls of the 110 people who donated their bodies from September 1st to August 31st last year.
Shinichi Toyooka, Dean of the School of Medicine, Naoya Ohara, Dean of the School of Dentistry, and student representatives pledged, “We are grateful for the sublime kindness of the donors, and will make use of them in the treatment of future diseases.” I sincerely respect my father for his contributions, and I hope that your tireless efforts and dedication will lead to the further development of medicine.” [Image 2
